I walked this route on 4th April 2018. Because I arrived from San Mauro la Bruca and was too lazy to walk down into the centre of San Nazario I missed the official hiking trail. Of course I did not know about this trail at that moment. Starting from the upper part of the little village I followed a dirt track uphill that was visible on satellite images, crossing the road from San Mauro la Bruca to Castinatelli and continuing further uphill. At a divide I took the upper way but this one ended in the forest. The forest seemed easily passable so I started climing further uphill without path until the ruins of a shack. From here a barely visible track leads to another track being in quite good condition. Following this for a little while in uphill direction I arrived at a picnic site with a water fountain and an information board showing the hiking trail I missed in San Nazario.

Beyond this place the way leads to the ridge just below the northern Monte Castelluccio with some beautiful views over the Lambro river valley and benches to rest for a little while. There is no direct way to the summit from here although a guidepost shows „Sentiero Monte Castelluccio“. A path to Cuccaro Vetere and Catona leaves to the right. At the next Y-junction with possibility to turn left to San Maro la Bruca I turned right to Monte dei Monaci where I found a larger picnic site with shelter but no water. Continuing straight in southern direction the dirt track turns into a path which ends at a little asphalt road. A few meters to the left and than right a dirt track passes below the other Castelluccio with nearly as beautiful views as from its peak.

At the beginning of Loc. Pietralata a dirt tracks turns to the right to leave the meanwhile asphalted road, all still in high altitude on the ridge above Pisciotta with views over Vallone Carusello. A path leads steep down through Macchia mediterranea, crosses the Carusello stream and enters Pisciotta near the central square Piazza Raffaele Pinto.
